yay it’s thanksgiving!! happy day to everyone! our 30 pounder is in the oven after gerry helped me stuff its neck hole. jessie and chris and becca are on their way over soon so that we can start eating and cooking more. w00t!

let me just take a moment to say how thankful i am for all of the wonderful people in my life. i wouldn’t be who i am or where i am today without my friends and family, whom i love and appreciate so very much. thank you to all of you for being in my life.

the weekend goes by way too quickly, even when we don’t have big events planned. i kept this weekend (sat and sun at least) quite clear so that we could start the house prep for thanksgiving. friday night was dinner at pam and g’s and it was fabulous, just as we knew it would be. g made us her amazing enchiladas (the best ever!) and they baked up an apple pie, which we finally dug into around midnight with some vanilla ice cream. we got to play with loki, their italian greyhound, bogota, their cockateil, and spotty and izzy, their 2 geckos. the cricket feeding was fun to watch. their apartment, old converted mill section, is awesome and i fell in love with pam’s bronze casting of a naked chick in their living room, which she lovingly named julia. good time!

saturday we slept in, ran errands and began doing all the housework we needed to get done. i helped ger use the tablesaw to shave a bit of wood from one of the molding pieces and then he did some putty work and finished nailing all the transition molding in. we ended up doing an impromptu dinner with alex, danielle, mom and yoda, which turned into a fun evening of conversation. we also watched lucky number slevin, which i thought was quite good. i was so tired that i fell asleep during the last bit of it, but i finished watching it on sunday morning. ;)

we got lots done around the house on sunday. we stopped by home depot and picked up a nifty little hardwood floor cleaning kit, which came with a swiffer-type mop with a clean rag on it and a bottle of floor cleaner. i tried it out on the bamboo last night and it worked quite well. the kitchen and dining room are completely cleaned and ready for thanksgiving. we moved around some furniture and stuff to make room for the extra dining room table that jess is bringing over tomorrow for the feast on thursday. jess and i decided to cook thanksgiving dinner this year, which is a first, and we’re both very excited! we’ve got a huge menu planned out and about 15 people coming i think. it ought to be interesting to see how we fit such a random large group of people into the condo. it’ll be a mixture of friends and family; mainly folks who don’t really have a lot of family in the area to celebrate with. i’m really looking forward to it!

oh and by the way, in case anybody is interested, there is going to be a higher ed job fair this wednesday in holyoke. pretty much all of the local colleges are going to be there talking about job opportunities within higher education. i will be there between 1 and 3 pm to help represent hampshire. 8)

yay tonight was taco night! i love taco night. gerry even helped cook and prep dinner, which was very cute. and taco night means i get to have taco salad for lunch tomorrow.

we also tried a taste test of the first version of the pumpkin martini, which consisted of the pumpkin vodka blended with stonyfield farms vanilla chai ice cream and a little bit of milk. it was very tasty, but not quite perfect. i think it needed a little something to make it a tad bit sweeter, but already this thing is like a dessert all by itself. it’s wicked good, but i don’t think abybody will be able to drink more than one of them (although maybe that’s a good thing). i don’t know. i’m toying with the idea of trying something completely different. we’ll see. any suggestions?

wow! my boss just nudged me into checking out hampshire music, which is hampshire college’s music group website. maesa rae pullman, one of the hampshire students featured there and performing this friday night on campus, is an amazing young singer/songwriter. kristen beam has a great interview with maesa posted on the soundcheck blog at masslive. i urge you to check it out and listen to the mp3 on there. this girl has really got an awesome voice and she’s absolutely beautiful! i only wish i didn’t have plans this friday night, otherwise i’d be staying on campus to see the show. although i’m sure i’ll get a chance to see her at some point soon since she seems to be performing locally.
