all the cooks in the kitchen at the party yesterday

i guess i didn’t need to go to the gym yesterday afterall. i think i got all the workout i needed just with all the running up and down stairs with food and setting up the party. yep, i’m feelin it just a little. but we got it all cleaned up and everything last night, so now i just have to go back over there today and vacuum, double check the place over, and then i can return the key. w00t!

jessie and i both got beautiful new shelves made for us by uncle dave for christmas. i’m not sure where i’m going to hang mine yet, but once it’s hung i’ll take a photo and post it. ;)

i’m so glad that i don’t have to work this week. christmas and party and new years is work enough. i think i might need a vacation after all of this.

i slept incredibly well last night. there was no way i was getting up at the ass crack of dawn (4.30) to make it to spinning class today, but i think i will head over to the gym in a bit and make myself feel a little less horrible about indulging so much over the holidays…did i mention that ger got me a dark collection from vosges? num!

so i’m sitting here half naked, wearing the beautiful necklace that my cousin made for me for christmas, which just happens to have some swarovski products, and i’m contemplating going to bed or cleaning more. the party is finally over, but it went extremely well and i’m super happy about that. my gram turned 75 and all of the special family members and friends were there to celebrate with her. jessie and i did a bunch of the cooking, and i can’t count how many times we were told that we should open up a catering business. i heart that. ;)

today marks my eleventh anniversary with gerry. i seriously can’t believe it’s been that long. damn, we’re getting old! and we’re not even that old! i suppose we ought to be upstairs celebrating that. ;) see ya!!

yay i’m so excited!! jessie loves that we registered kitchbitch.net for her as a christmas present! thanks so much to gerry and heather for helping me brainstorm for a good domain name. right now there’s a simple christmas theme up there, but soon i’ll have jess choose some cool themes and then i’ll show her how to use the software and she’ll be up and blogging in no time. plus i’ll have to set her up with picasa and teach her a bit of unix, then she can get all her photos up there too.

yeah so i lied about the posting of the christmasy photos. i didn’t actually take any photos with my camera this year, but jessie did, and i took a few shots with her camera. so hopefully we’ll get those up soon.

it’s been a busy couple a days. lots of visiting with family. lots of eating. lots of gifts. i spent most of yesterday nursing a hangover while attempting to be cheery. i stupidly drank a bit too much wine on christmas eve, which is unusual for me, but i think a lot of it had to do with the fact that i didn’t eat much that day. well, at least i didn’t get sick, but i didn’t feel very well in the aftermath.

today will be spent cleaning and prepping for tomorrow’s party. today is my gram’s birthday, she’s turning 75!! so we’re throwing her a wampum party tomorrow at the condo clubhouse here and i’ve got some grocery shopping, food prep and other stuff to take care of. my uncle mike and his kids are flying out from california for the occasion. should be a good time.

happy christmas eve eve!!

ger is playing video games while i relax for a few. grocery stores are crazy today. i knew they would be, but i had to run out, twice even, to get ingredients that i had forgotten to buy earlier in the week. i’m not doing too much baking this holiday season, my sister is doing most of it, but i will be making two chicken pot pies for tomorrow’s ealry dinner w/ my dad and siblings, and then i decided to bake two decadent chocolate cakes to bring with us to holiday gatherings. oh yeah, add two chocolate cream pies to the list too. ger’s mom was going to bake them for christmas day, but their stove got all busted (electrical fire on the bottom oven element) last weekend so they can’t do any cooking til it’s fixed. so she brought all the ingredients over here so i can bake em.

other than that, i’ve still got a few cookbooks left to make and wrap and a few other gifts to wrap and shove (if i can find a spot) under the tree. we’ll be leaving in about a half hour or so to head over to ger’s dad’s place to celebrate christmas stuff with him, his girlfriend and her son and her son’s fiance. we’re doing dinner at maine seafood, so it ought to be wicked good, as long as the wait isn’t horrible.

we got a lovely surprise earlier this afternoon. kyle stopped over briefly to drop off some special treats: wine that his wife picked up from the newport winery and some biscotti and tiramisu from the local italian bakery. num! so sweet!

other than that we won’t be seeing to many of our friends over the next few days. lots of folks are traveling, or just visiting with lots of family like us. we will get to see kfun and joe tomorrow night though, so that’ll be good.

ok i should go get ready. i’ll be sure to post at least a couple christmasy pics over the next couple days.

omg yay! the trailer for the new transformers movie looks pretty sweet! and it’s coming out in july, which will be a fantastic month since that’s also when the new harry potter movie, as well as the new harry potter book, will be coming out.

our very special, dr. seuss-ish christmas tree. thanks to heather for all her help with decorating and wrapping last night! this is a really crappy photo, but i just wanted to snap something quick and get it up before i head up to bed. i’ll see if i can take some better shots soon.

fuckin sweet! since my boss is going away next week for a holiday vacation, he decided to surprise me with a christmas gift today! he got me american geisha, which is a book full of olivia’s artwork. i absolutely love it!
